Jacob Thompson, PA-C

Jacob Thompson, PA-C, is a certified Physician Assistant with a background in military medicine, emergency care, wilderness medicine, and procedural dermatology. He brings 15 years of military medical service to Advanced Dermatology of Alaska, including 10 years on active duty and continued service in the Air National Guard.

His clinical background has shaped a calm, disciplined, and hands-on approach to dermatologic care. Jacob focuses on skin cancer screening, biopsies, excisions, cyst removals, wound care, laser treatments, and the treatment of common skin conditions.

Jacob completed his undergraduate education at the University of Alaska Anchorage before earning his physician assistant training through the University of Washington MEDEX Northwest Physician Assistant Program. Prior to becoming a PA, he served as an Independent Duty Medical Technician and paramedic, caring for patients in high-pressure, team-based, and resource-limited environments. He also served as a ski patroller in Alaska for three years, further strengthening his foundation in wilderness and emergency medicine.

At Advanced Dermatology of Alaska, Jacob focuses on medical, surgical, procedural, and laser-based dermatology. He has a special interest in evaluating changing lesions, performing in-office procedures, treating inflammatory skin disease, and helping patients understand their diagnosis and treatment options.

His approach is practical, direct, and patient-centered, with an emphasis on clear communication, patient comfort, and treatment plans that make sense for each person's lifestyle.

Outside of work, Jacob enjoys staying active in the Alaska outdoors, endurance training, and spending time with his wife. His military service, Alaska roots, and wilderness medicine background continue to shape his commitment to service, resilience, and practical, compassionate care for the communities he is proud to serve.
